This healthy, nut-free, dairy-free green smoothie is naturally colored – but not with spinach, peas, matcha or something like that! 😉 It’s naturally colored with sunflower seeds! Sunflower seeds contain chlorogenic acid which turns green in an alkaline environment (baking soda). Chlorogenic acid is safe to eat: Many vegetables contain chlorogenic acid, such as spinach, carrots etc.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup natural green sunflower seeds
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar or 1 banana
- 1/2 cup soy milk
- optional: 1 tsp homemade vanilla extract
Here you’ll find my tutorial: How to make Natural Geen Sunflower Seeds. Then blend all ingredients until smooth. The natural green sunflower smoothie tastes of sunflower seeds, and vanilla if you add vanilla extract.
