1920s Tam Hat – The 1922 Devereaux Hat

hand made wool coat

I’ve knitted this 1920s Tam hat following this antique, 1922 pattern – the Devereaux Hat. In the 1920s, Tam O’Shanter hats were popular among girls and young women – an alternative to the cloche hat.

I’ve used 100% wool yarn in white and navy. I had to adjust the pattern to the yarn thickness. And I’ve left off the band as I hadn’t enough wool left.

I like the hat very much: It’s comfortable and warm – even in cold, damp weather. I’d recommend the pattern: the hat is easy and fast to knit – even if you don’t like knitting, like me. 😉
