Victorian Tucked Petticoat

Victorian Tucked Petticoat

I always found Victorian tucked petticoats pretty, but I dreaded sewing all those tucks! 😉 But now I’ve finally sewn one.

It’s inspired by petticoats such as this 1850-60s tucked broderie anglaise petticoat, these two lace petticoats with tucks and this 1900s petticoat. Here’s another shorter tucked petticoat and two tucked petticoats: 1850s petticoat and 1868 petticoat.

The join of the DIY scalloped broderie anglaise lace and fabric is hidden behind the first tuck. The skirt is gathered into cartridge pleats at the waist.

And I used the ruler on my sewing machine for the tucks. So it wasn’t difficult at all to sew all those tucks.
