This recipe is a popular German pie crust recipe. The pie crust from scratch is so easy to make: You need just 3 ingredients – 1 part sugar, 2 parts butter and 3 parts flour.
And if you have pie crust leftover, you can turn them into delicious cookies!
Easy 3 Ingredient Pie Crust
Ingredients:
- 300g flour (2 1/2 cups)
- 200g butter (7/8 cup or 1 3/4 sticks)
- 100g sugar (1/2 cup)
Directions:
Put the flour and sugar in a large bowl. Cut the butter into small pieces. Using a knife, cut the butter into the flour. Then knead the dough briefly. You need cold hands to you knead the dough: An old recipe recommends to put your hands in cold water before kneading. Put the dough into the fridge for half an hour. (You can keep the dough in the fridge for up to a week.) Meanwhile prepare the filling.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
Roll out the shortcrust pastry on a floured surface. Wrap the dough around a rolling pin and transfer it to a springform pan or pie dish (it isn’t necessary to grease the pan). Trim the overhanging dough with a knife, scissors or a fluted pastry wheel.
Pour the filling into the pie crust and bake the pie for 30 – 50 minutes, depending on the filling you choose.
