I’ve made some tie dye samples using Indian and Japanese tie dye techniques. The first picture shows Japanese shibori designs, such as here and here.
The patterns are made with running stitches. I’ve used cotton fabric; and I’ve dyed it with onion skins. I also tried an Indian tie dye technique – bandhani. The dot pattern is made wrapping thread tightly round the fabric, such as here. Then I dyed the fabric with onion skins and overdyed it with turmeric.
Here I printed cotton fabric with horse chestnut leaves dye using a button as stamp.
