These are yellow and orange natural dye samples which I’ve made. The first is turmeric on cotton fabric and wool yarn.

The second are onion skins on wool yarn and cotton fabric. I like the flame-colored or rust-red color on the wool yarn.

The third is saffron on cotton fabric, silk fabric, and wool yarn. The color is not very lightfast.

All of these fabrics and yarns aren’t mordanted. For turmeric, onion skins, and saffron, it isn’t necessary to use any mordant.
