I call this 1920s chiffon dress the meringue dress. Doesn’t it just look like a meringue? 😉 I used white chiffon fabric and attached ruffles to the skirt. Some 1920s dresses had ruffled skirts: white dress with lace, ruffles with contrasting edge, and photograph.
I made a sheer 1920s chiffon dress with appliqued pink roses inspired by these 1920s sewing instructions for the rose appliques. But instead of chiffon velvet on chiffon, I used georgette on chiffon. I used a pink waterproof nylon fabric for my 1920s inspired raincoat. I drafted the pattern myself, based on 1920s raincoats and dresses. I also made a matching cloche hat which is lined with cotton twill. The raincoat is closed in front with press buttons. Because I hadn’t more of this fabric, the raincoat is a bit short. Maybe I’ll add some different colored nylon fabric at the hem. What do you think?
