An envelope closure is the easiest pillow closure. You don’t have to sew buttons or a zipper: Just fold the fabric, sew the sides together and you’ll have a beautiful pillow case! 😀
You’ll need:
- fabric
- pillow insert
- thread
- sewing machine
Measure your pillow. Cut a rectangle out of fabric, as wide as the pillow + seam allowances and as long as 2.5 x the pillow + seam allowances. E.g. if the pillow measures 10 x 10 inches, cut out a 11 x 26 inch rectangle.
Finish the short edges of the rectangle. Fold the fabric, as in the picture, so that there’s a slight overlap in the middle. Then sew both sides of the envelope pillow case and finish the raw edges with a zig zag stitch. Turn the pillow case inside out and your pillow cover is finshed!
I turned an old sweater into an envelope pillow cover, and here I made cute Easter bunny pillows.
This is my favorite way to sew a pillow! Thanks for sharing your tutorial @Vintage Charm!
It’s my favorite way too! 🙂 It’s so quick and easy to sew.
I tried this the other day and it turned out great! Thanks for this, it’s so easy to follow!
