How To Naturally Dye Easter Eggs Blue With Red Cabbage

How To Naturally Dye Easter Eggs Blue With Red Cabbage

You can dye your Easter eggs blue just with red cabbage!

You’ll need:

  • red cabbage
  • brown or white eggs
  • vinegar
  • cooking pot

Red cabbage can dye purple and blue. As the eggshell is alkaline, the eggs will dye a blue color. The vinegar is necessary so that the dye can penetrate the eggshell.

Chop enough red cabbage so that the cooking pot is about half-full with red cabbage. Add water and 1 – 2 tablespoons vinegar. Cook for 15 – 30 minutes till the water turns purple as in the photo.

Now add the raw eggs and cook for about 10 minutes.

Turn off the heat and let the eggs soak in the dye solution overnight. This is necessary for the eggs to take on the blue color.
