Make a cute DIY octopus dog toy with jeans pockets!
This DIY octopus dog toy out of old jeans is a great project for sewing beginners because it doesn’t matter if the seams are uneven! Your pup will love it just the same! For the denim toy you’re going to need two jeans pockets, some denim fabric for the “octopus tentacles” and old fabric scraps for stuffing. I used the jeans pockets that were leftover from my 5 DIY No-Sew Recycled Denim Dog Toys.
Note: If your pup is a heavy chewer, like mine, it’s best to omit the octopus tentacles! My puppy loved the tentacles but she chewed them off in about 10 minutes! 😉 But the rest of the dog toy is still holding up.
DIY Octopus Dog Toy Out Of Old Jeans
You’ll need:
- 2 jeans pockets
- 3 jeans strips
- old T-shirt scraps as stuffing
Fold the jeans strips so that the raw edges are enclosed. Then sew the strips together with a straight stitch. Tie a knot at one end of each strip.
With the wrong sides together, sew around the jeans pockets, adding the three jeans stips at the bottom.
Leave a little opening along one side for stuffing. Stuff the octopus denim dog toy with old T-shirt scraps. T-shirt scraps are soft – perfect for chewing! 😀 Then sew the opening closed.
And give the DIY octopus dog toy to your eagerly waiting pup! 😀

Great use for old denim. I think my dog would still be able to pull that apart – lol. We are in the puppy, tear through your toy stage :)….
