You can use up that leftover stale cake and turn it into a new cake!
How To Make Cake Crumbs?
Crumble the cake between your fingers. Or grate the cake for very fine cake crumbs or if the old cake is too hard too crumble easily.
Cake Crumb Pie Crust
- 3 cups cake crumbs
- 1 cup butter
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Knead together cake crumbs and butter. Press it into a pie pan – no need to grease the pan.
Pie Filling Ideas
- Edwardian Strawberry Custard Pie
- 1910s Mock Cream Pie
- Victorian Raspberry Cream Pie
- 1920s Orange Pie
I made Mock Cream Pie – it’s so delicious! 😀
Now add the pie filling and bake for about 10-15 minutes.

Great idea for stale cake. Another use is to crumble the crumbs and make a decorative border on a frosted cake. If you have a contrasting flavor such as chocolate crumbs on vanilla it is even better!
