Victorian Crochet Wool Shawl (Sontag)
In the Victorian era, women usually wore a woven wool scarf or a knitted sontag, but sometimes they wore a crocheted scarf. I’ve used a rather scratchy grey wool blend yarn (mostly wool and just some other fibers). The yarn had blue and red wool dots which I’ve removed. This took the most time! 😉 Here are three CDV of women wearing similar scarfs: two colored scarf, light colored scarf, and dark scarf with flowers.

DIY Mint Green Crochet Sweater
I’m loving how my mint green crochet lace sweater turned out!
As you may know, I don’t like to knit but I like to crochet. And when I found the pattern for this beautiful crochet lace sweater in a magazine, I just had to make it! 😀
The Yarn
I used mint green mercerized 100% cotton yarn for my DIY crochet sweater. I always use natural fiber yarn and fabric for my projects like cotton, linen, silk, wool & rayon.
Because it’s a summer crochet sweater, I chose cotton. Cotton is also cheaper than silk and less stiff than linen. And of course, I had to use mint green because it’s my favorite color! 😉
The Pattern
I found the pattern in a crochet magazine. But if you want to make a similar crochet sweater, I found some free crochet sweater patterns for you! These two crochet sweaters are similar to mine: “Miley Away” and “Daniella Jumper”, both by Drops Design. And there are more free crochet sweater patterns on their website. Check them out! I’m no affiliate, I just love their patterns and yarns! 😉

1850s Irish Crochet Lace Bonnet
A couple of years ago I crocheted an Victorian Irish crochet lace bonnet. It’s a mid to late 1850s style bonnet, revealing more of the forehead than an 1840s bonnet. Continue reading 1850s Irish Crochet Lace Bonnet
