Men’s Shirt Refashion

Men's Shirt Refashion

I really like how my refashioned men’s shirt turned out: I can’t wait for summer so that I can wear this summery shirt!

The Before

The men’s shirt was way too big and had discolorations at the collar and under the arms, but I liked the blue color and stripes. (Scroll down for the before pic.)

The Pattern

So, I used a top as pattern, cut away the yellow parts and turned the shirt into a cute summer top.

Self-Fabric Bias Binding

I used the sleeves to make self-fabric bias binding to finish the neckline and armscyes.

Back Pleat

The shirt had a back pleat. I liked the detail but the pleat didn’t lay flat. So I unpicked the stitching and altered the back pleat making it more slanting.

  1. I did a similar refashion last year and wore it all summer. Such a useful addition to my wardrobe! You have inspired me to look out another old shirt and make another.

  2. Omgosh, this is awesome! You did a fantastic job and turned it into something I would totally love to wear this summer. Thanks for the upcycled idea!
