Homemade Elderflower Cordial Recipe

Homemade Elderflower Cordial Recipe

Elderflower cordial is perfect for hot summer days because it’s refreshing and cooling. Elderflower cordial was made since the Roman times, and it’s easy and cheap to make at home. My recipe is for elderflower syrup which will be diluted with water later.

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 fresh elderflower heads
  • 125g sugar
  • 125ml water

To make elderflower syrup: Boil sugar and water till the sugar is dissolved. Leave the syrup to cool down.

In the meantime gather fresh elderflowers. Cut off the small white flowers from the green stems. Steep the elderflowers for 3 to 4 days in the syrup, keeping it in the fridge.

  1. I remember a friend giving me a glass of homemade elderflower cordial a few years ago, it was delicious. Thanks for the recipe, I’ll have to give it a try. Do you strain the flowers after a few days or just as you use it?

      1. Thanks Lina, sorry I can see now that you did say steep the flowers for 3 – 4 days! I’m looking forward to trying this. Thanks.
