DIY Icicle Candle Holders Winter Luminaries With Snowy Pinecones

Aren’t these icicle winter luminaries beautiful? They look great as christmas table decoration, on the window sill or as modern Advent wreath. The snow frosted candle holders are easy and quick to make with things you already have at home. And they’re a great holiday craft for kids because they’re made with natural “ingredients”. 😉

DIY Snow Frosted Candle Holders With Salt & Wheatpaste

You probably know by now that I don’t like to use glue or paint for my crafts. And these snow frosted winter luminaries are no different! They’re made with things you find in your kitchen: flour and water (aka DIY wheatpaste) and salt!

Because wheatpaste + salt worked so well for my winter oil lamps and snowy pine cones, I used wheatpaste and salt again for the icicle mason jars.

And wheatpaste has another advantage: You can wash off the walt-wheatpaste-icicles with warm water after the holiday season.

You’ll need:

Make DIY wheatpaste: Stir together about 4 tbsp flour and 3 or 4 tbsp cold water. Wait 15 minutes. Then paint icicles onto the mason jars.

Roll the mason jars in salt till all of the wheatpaste icicles are covered with salt. Let the icicle candle holders dry overnight.

Then pour salt into the mason jars. And put the candles into the jars. Screw the screw eyes into the DIY snowy pine cones. And tie the snowy pine cones to the icicle luminaries.

I love these frosted icicle candle holders. They look so wintery! I made four icicle candle jars for a modern Advent wreath. The icicle jars are one of my favorite crafts of my this year’s Advent calender with 24 Christmas crafts.

  1. Very beautiful! We use to make glue like this all the time growing up. I haven’t done it for a long time. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  2. How pretty! I love how wintry they are. Thanks for sharing at Snickerdoodle. I’m not sure why, but I can’t pin images from your blog, Lina. I’ve noticed this when I’ve tried to pin your link party logo, too.
