Cake Crumb Pie Crust - A Use For Stale Cake

You can use up that leftover stale cake and turn it into a new cake!

How To Make Cake Crumbs?

Crumble the cake between your fingers. Or grate the cake for very fine cake crumbs or if the old cake is too hard too crumble easily.

Cake Crumb Pie Crust

  • 3 cups cake crumbs
  • 1 cup butter

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Knead together cake crumbs and butter. Press it into a pie pan – no need to grease the pan.

Pie Filling Ideas

I made Mock Cream Pie – it’s so delicious! 😀

Now add the pie filling and bake for about 10-15 minutes.

  1. Great idea for stale cake. Another use is to crumble the crumbs and make a decorative border on a frosted cake. If you have a contrasting flavor such as chocolate crumbs on vanilla it is even better!

Your website, vintage sewing, and photography are absolutely beautiful. You are impressive!

  2. Could you use stale quick breads? I’m thinking yes! I always have ends leftover that no one wants to eat so I feed them to the chickens. I’ll try this instead! Love it and I pinned it. Thanks for coming by the Friday Frenzy we appreciate you!

  3. What a great idea using stale cake to make pie crust! I would just normally throw that kind of stuff out. Now I don’t have to waste anymore. Thanks for sharing at FF!
