Atonement Blouse Makeover

Atonement Blouse Makeover

Inspired by the blouse in the movie ‘Atonement’ I refashioned this blouse. It was an ugly, unflattering, very long blouse before but I liked the fabric: a sheer 100% viscose rayon fabric printed with tiny flowers in light and dark brown. So on the morning of the 24th Dezember I decided rather spontaneously, which is typical for me, 😉 to cut it apart and make something new out of it.

Floral 1930s blouse

The fabric reminded me of the 1930s floral blouse in the movie ‘Atonement’; so this was my inspiration.

I shortened the blouse and changed the neckline: Now it’s a V-neck with long self-fabric ties.

I closed the slit at the back of the blouse and added pleats at the shoulder seam so that the shoulders fit better. I also lengthened the sleeves with leftover fabric pieces from the bottom of the blouse.

I like how the blouse turned out, and it didn’t take long to make the blouse. It was so unusually warm this Christmas that I could wear the blouse while visiting the family. 😀

With the blouse I’m wearing my copper-colored taffeta skirt.

  1. This looks wonderful! I love watching movies for the costumes! Atonement was a great one. The green dress will always be a favorite. Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
