DIY Nautical Ruffle Tote Bag

I love this pretty blue and white knitted flounced bag! But I don’t like to knit. 😉 So I thought I’d use some fabric scraps and sew a nautical ruffle bag! I used white cotton canvas and white aida cloth. Here you’ll find the tutorial for a cute ruffled tote bag. My bag is a small bag, so it has just two ruffles. And instead of zigzagging the edges, I crocheted around the edges of the ruffles with blue cotton yarn. The bag is closed with a wood button and yarn button loop.

A few years ago I made a 1920s turquoise taffeta robe de style dress. A robe de style was an 1920s alternative to the typical 1920s chemise-style evening dresses. Conservative women, who might not bob their hair and preferred to wear classic, more feminine dresses, often chose to wear a robe de style.
