1920s Bathing Suit
I used an old, long, two-piece knit fabric nightgown in dark gray and light gray and refashioned it into a 1920s bathing suit. I thought the fabric would be perfect for a 1920s bathing suit because the fabric is warm, thick cotton knit jersey, and gray and black was often used for 1920s bathing suits. Victorian Cotton Pinner Apron
I’ve sewn a Victorian pinner apron as part of my Victorian working woman outfit.
‘If for common use, aprons are made of white, brown, blue, black, or checked linen, of black stuff, calico, Holland, leather, nankeen, print, or long cloth; if for better purposes, of cambric muslin, clear, mulled, or jaconet muslin, silk, satinette, satin, &c. The length of the apron is, of course, generally determined by the height of the wearer, and the width, by that of the material, and by the purpose for which it is intended. For working aprons, the width is generally one breadth of a yard wide; for dress aprons, two breadths, one of which is cut in half, and these halfs put one on each side of the whole breadths. If the material should be wide enough, on breadth, of from fourteen to twenty nails will answer very well.’ (The Workwoman’s Guide, 1840, p. 76) Continue reading Victorian Cotton Pinner Apron

DIY Bran Hair Wash Recipe
I read about bran hair wash in an old book: It said that the bran cleans the scalp naturally and makes shiny hair. For the bran shampoo you’ll just need two ingredients; and according to the article, the bran solution can also be used as mild face wash. Continue reading DIY Bran Hair Wash Recipe
Atonement Blouse Makeover
Inspired by the blouse in the movie ‘Atonement’ I refashioned this blouse. It was an ugly, unflattering, very long blouse before but I liked the fabric: a sheer 100% viscose rayon fabric printed with tiny flowers in light and dark brown. So on the morning of the 24th Dezember I decided rather spontaneously, which is typical for me, 😉 to cut it apart and make something new out of it. Continue reading Atonement Blouse Makeover
